Baby Deer and Sandhill Cranes

Sandhill cranes were hanging out this weekend.

They preened and picked through the woodchip pile for bugs.

This little baby is living in the tall grass in the south pasture! I heard a bleating sound the other evening just after dark when I was out back closing up the flower barn, and discovered that the sound was a whitetail deer fawn calling its mother! A day or two later, this little guy was out in the short grass, and then snuck back into his hiding place to wait for his mother while she grazed in another part of the pasture. Now I know who has been eating the ammobium flowers.
